We’re excited to introduce a new look for the Whitney!
Design studio Experimental Jetset developed the new approach, which embraces the spirit of the Museum while serving as a visual ambassador for our new building. The result is a distinctive and inventive graphic system that literally responds to art—a fundamental attribute of the Whitney since its founding in 1930. This dynamic identity, which the designers refer to as the “responsive ‘W’,” also illustrates the Museum’s ever-changing nature.
You can view the new identity on the redesigned whitney.org and via this introductory video. You’ll be seeing much more it at the Museum, in our mailings and advertising, and elsewhere over the next few weeks. We welcome your comments via Facebook and Twitter.

Doodle for Saul Bass’ 93rd Birthday (by Google)
Google’s tribute to the amazing designer, Saul Bass, on his birthday. Bass’s iconic work ranges from corporate logo’s (Bell System, AT&T, Quaker Oats) to some of the most creative film title sequences ever produced. I’m certain any film buff will know which movies this homage refers to.

“There are good things and bad things in this world for many generations. Today a saw a photo with a quote from Alan Rickman himself. Somebody had put red paint frome a computer and crossed out his name and put something else there. That makes my blood boil. Good thing I’m standing up for Alan Rickman. I’ve been good friends with him ever since my Aunt died at age 56 from 2 cancers. My cousin, Alan and David have been supporting me since last July. I talked to him on the phone and told what’s been going on. If anyone plans to do any of that without Alan noticing I’ll let Alan know. He wants this stopped and so do I. He ain’t bluffing. People may think it’s a joke, but if caught doing it will be arrested for forgery.”

There is a quote with a picture going around Tumblr but the quote is from some lady on a forum. The quote is not from Alan Rickman.
